The ZujioLogy Journey of Change

Employees are the most valuable assets to any company!! The Zujiology Program provides the company with strategic advantages by investing money in a program that will bring lowered expenses in return, often in the form of better performing workers and health care costs. By providing workers with these services, companies are improving wellbeing and job satisfaction, as well as raising retention rates. The welfare of employees has a direct impact on the success of the company.

The Zujiology Workplace Wellness program will help you get healthier, even if that simply means learning how to reduce stress and muscle strain when you are on the job. It also helps to lose weight, lower your cholesterol and blood pressure, sleep better, and save money on prescriptions. Sometimes, all you need is a plan to get the ball rolling.

Another great benefit of the program is a built in sense of camaraderie with your co-workers. You’ll have a chance to experience activities with them that aren’t related to work, whether in a walking club or sports team, by having lunch together, or by going to the gym. Social support is a very important part of weight loss and getting fit. By interacting with co-workers, you’ll have others to give you encouragement when you need it, as well as to hold you accountable to your goals. Plus, you’ll be motivated by seeing other’s positive results.

On average, adults spend at least one third of their life at work. This makes the workplace an ideal environment to promote the health and wellbeing of the adult population as:

  • The working population is large and relatively stable (over two-thirds of adult New Zealanders are in paid work so a large proportion of the population can be reached)
  • People of working age can be reached before disease develops
  • Barriers to participation such as cost, time and travel are low
  • Established channels of communication already exist with employees
  • The setting is familiar and offers flexibility
  • There is scope for peer support, and
  • The ability to influence the workplace environment can be significant.

Workplaces employing a high number of employees in low or semi-skilled occupations, who implement health and wellness programmes, have the potential to positively influence health outcomes of these workers, leading to beneficial outcomes for both employees and the workplace.

A healthy workplace encourages the development of a healthy workforce, which is vital to a nation’s economic and social growth and implements workplace health and wellness programmes and policies to create a supportive culture and physical environment that encourages healthy lifestyles. It is also characterised by employers and employees working together to support and promote the health and wellbeing of people.

Workplaces as a setting for health promotion

The workplace has been recognised internationally as an important setting for health promotion and offers an ideal environment to promote and support healthy lifestyle changes to a large audience.

Many workplaces have become increasingly sedentary, contributing to inactive lifestyles and unhealthy living. New Zealand also has a high number of fatalities and injuries that occur in the workplace.

There is a clear relationship between the impact of work on health and health on work. Workplaces are a determanant of health: they affect the physical, mental, economic and social wellbeing of workers, and in turn the health of their families/whánau, communities and society. Poor health has a significant impact on productivity and business success.

Employers have a unique opportunity to improve the health and wellness of their staff, improve worker performance and reduce sick leave.

Mental wellbeing is one of the most valuable business assets. Workplaces that prioritise mental health have better engagement, reduced absenteeism and higher productivity, while people have improved wellbeing, greater morale and higher job satisfaction.

Why should an employee take advantage of the Zujiology Program?

Well, most people have some sort of health risk to varying degrees, whether it’s unhealthy eating, lack of exercise or sleep, obesity, mental health issues, drinking, smoking, or even something genetic. Using a program can make positive change happen. Not only will they be more able to complete their job responsibilities, but they will have more energy and vigor to give to their family and friends when they get home.
